Foreign direct investment in Kosovo, which had fallen sharply as a result of the global crisis, have already begun to increase. During the first quarter of this year, according to the Central Bank, foreign investment reached the figure of 60 million 100 thousand euros, an increase of 6.7 percent compared with the same period last year.

But, in the annual report of the United Nations Conference for Development, Kosovo is ranked among the last countries in the region in terms of investment. However, government officials say that is that is about to change.

“Based on the annual report of the United Nations Conference for Development, Kosovo is in a better position in terms of foreign direct investment in 2012 compared to Macedonia and Slovenia” said the spokeswoman the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Arta Istrefi.
