Standard & Poor's analyst Pierre Gautier said that the Slovenian bank decision on liquidation of two banks showed a determination to solve the banking crisis. Slovenian banking system is marked by S&P in a bad position, similar to banks in Kazakhstan.

– The problem in Slovenia are the state banks, representing nearly half of total assets, says Gautier.

Less troubled are private banks, with the exceptions of two very small banks. The S&P anticipates that Slovenia and other Eastern European countries will offer support to its systemically important banks. Banks in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, according to S&P, are not far from the Austrian, French or Dutch.

– They are very stable and in the next two years no change is expected, says Gautier.

By the severity of the problem Polish banks are located somewhere in the golden mean.
