Privatization of Post and Telecom Kosovo delayed

Kosovo authorities have delayed the signing of the privatization of 75 procent of shares of Post and Telecom Kosovo.(PTK)

The agreement should have been reached September 30th, because Kosovo’s parliament on two occasions , for opposing the privatization, did not provide the quorum for the support to the government proposal.

As stated by opponents of privatization, bid that won the tender, and which in April filed a consortium  is made of german company “ACP Axos Capital“, and american company “NAJAF Company“, significantly underestimates the value of the company ,which was previously estimated as Kosovo’s most profitable public company.

“Today we sent a request to bid winner to postpone the signing of agreement  until October 21st,“ said  Kosovo’s minister of Economy, Fadilj Ismalji.

Political disagreement threatens to compromise the reputation of local government among foreign investors and may eventually lead to the collapse of the government.

The alderman of parliamentary group “Zajednicka buducnost“, Boban Todorovic, said that the privatization of PTK will not be on thetommorow’s  agenda  of a regular session of the Assembly OF Kosovo.
