Assistant Secretary General of NATO for Public Diplomacy Minister Grabar Kitarovic, after a meeting with Macedonian Defense Minister Talat Xhaferi , sent a clear message that the invitation for membership in NATO would be sent as soon as Macedonia finds with Greece acceptable solution regarding name dispute .
“It is a political and bilateral process and calls on both parties to continue their constructive dialogue and cooperation to resolve the issue. NATO is an alliance of 28 sovereign Member States which operate on the principle of consensus. This means that all countries must agree , that none are can be against any decision , “said Kitarovic.

Macedonia has implemented all the reforms necessary for membership in the Alliance , but plan for the reception together with Croatian and Albania 2008th was not implemented because of the name dispute with Greece.
